At Gut Gurus, our workshops are hands-on, gut-friendly experiences designed to help students explore the science, culture, and joy of fermented foods. Each workshop blends education with practical skills, making it easy to support your digestive health while trying something new.
From fermentation basics to cooking demos, our events are open to all experience levels — beginners welcome!

  • Sourdough Starter Workshop

    This beginner-friendly workshop teaches you how to create and maintain your own sourdough starter from scratch — all while learning how fermentation supports a healthier gut microbiome

    🧪 What You’ll Need for Day 1

    ½ cup flour — whole wheat or unbleached all-purpose

    ¼–⅓ cup water — ideally around 75°F

    Glass jar or bowl (around 32 oz)

    1 paper towel

    1 rubber band

    (And some extra flour for the rest of the week!)

    Join us as we begin the 7-day sourdough starter process together during our first live session. The zoom link is posted below, and will also be emailed to you before the session.

    We’ll also post daily Instagram videos guiding you through each step, so you can follow along at your own pace throughout the week.

  • Overnight Oats Workshop

    This beginner-friendly workshop teaches you how to prepare delicious, balanced overnight oats — all while learning how a fiber-rich breakfast can support steady energy and a healthier gut microbiome.

    🥣 What You'll Need for Day 1

    1 cup rolled oats 1 cup milk of choice (dairy or plant-based) ½ cup yogurt of choice 2 tablespoons chia seeds 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (Optional) 1 scoop of protein powder Glass jar or container with lid Spoon for mixing

    (And your favorite toppings — fresh or frozen fruits, nuts, seeds, shredded coconut, cinnamon, or jam!)

    Did you know that oats contain beta-glucan, a type of soluble fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria? When soaked overnight, oats become easier to digest — making your breakfast both convenient and gut-friendly.
